I Am Nikitaa: Pop singer-songwriter combining Rock flair, RnB vocals and South Asian heritage to coin the genre: Goddess Pop

I Am Nikitaa

Born and raised in Mumbai, singer-songwriter Nikitaa who has spent her recent years in LA mastering her art, is poised to be a breakthrough star on the independent music scene, creating a witty blend of sassy melodies, partnered with powerful lyrics that give added depth to each of her compositions. Nikitaa combines ethereal Pop/RnB with a subtle nod to the South-Asian soundscape to bring a new genre she calls Goddess Pop. Deeply inspired by her family's ties to Indian classical music as well as the years she spent learning and studying RnB and Pop at Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, her music invokes the universal image of the Goddess in all of her forms, moods and states. In her own words - "Every person has that Goddess power within them that honours the feminine within and without. I hope to remind people of this and uplift and empower them with my music, giving them space to express all their feelings no matter what it is they feel." Her first 2 independent singles "Honest" and "Exodus", written, sung and composed by her had garnered a total of just about half a million Spotify streams along with being spotted on ‘Spotify Editorial Fresh Finds’. Her first Punjabi single in India - "Vichoda Yaar Da" - was critically acclaimed and garnered just over a million YouTube plays, and was followed by a successful mashup cover of the legendary songs Aa Jaane Jaan and Piya Tu - a release sponsored by HMV. Featured on New Music Friday’ playlists across the world for her award winning third English release ‘Majesty’, the music video for which was nominated and won at film festivals across India in the music video category - Lake City International Film Festival (2019), Ayodhya Film Festival (2019), Cafe Irani Chai International Film Festival (2020). Her next English release 'Clutch' garnered half a million streams on Spotify, and the home-made music video, which was also Nikitaa's directorial debut, landed about a million views on Youtube as well. Nikitaa's most recent sinlge 'Goddess' - a second for the self-taught music video director - made it's way onto Spotify India's New Music Friday, Women of Indie and Indiestan playlists, as well as other editorial playlists on Amazon Music, JioSaavn and Hungama Music. Nikita, has a number of other songs ready for release in 2020. It is part of her plan to continue to defy expectations and build a catalogue of self-penned material that will continue to garner fans throughout the music world. A born entertainer, with the ability to transcend language, culture and ethnicity, Nikitaa’s self-proclaimed mission as an artist is to break down barriers, to shatter stereotypes and bring people together under the universal language of music. Back with the fourth release in the pandemic, independent artist Nikitaa’s latest release brings out her romantic side. This record beautifully captures the excitement and adventure of falling in love for someone - edgy yet ethereal, loving yet bold, deep yet light hearted. Filled with rock-inspired electric guitars, catchy vocal riffs and some whistle tone singing, this pop track is unlike any of her before works. This pop track is an excellent successor to Nikitaa’s last single ‘Goddess’ and keeping with Nikitaa’s umbrella theme of the Goddess. ‘Universe’ is the reimagining of the beginning of romance.
